April 9th Bead Bazaar; Joan asked members attending the bazaar to buy lunch there. We pay a fee for food service and if they don’t sell a certain amount, then it comes out of our profits. Joan has assigned time slots and duties for those who signed up to help at the event. Allow yourself time to shop before or after your shift!
Linette from Beads Etc will have a booth at the bazaar. They will be selling copies of the book “Beading Across America” signed by one of the contributors Marcia Laging-Cummings from the Lincoln bead group. Marsha will be signing books from 12:00-2:00.
National Teachers: We started a sign up sheet for the Judy Walker workshops that will be held Aug 20th and 21st. A $25 check is needed to hold your spot for each workshop and will be returned when you attend. The “Tassel” will be on Saturday and the “Peacock” design necklace will be on Sunday. Check your calendars and plan to sign up at the next meeting if you missed this month.
Edna Perkins Project: Make sure to bring your finished project donations to the April meeting so that Pam can collect and deliver them to Joni. Joni will present them to the recipients in May. Check your stash for any beads or components that you want to give to replenish the Edna Perkins supply for next year.
Reminder for the April meeting at the Hot Shops: Joan will have $3 kits for the glass fusing project. We will be doing a 3 ½” plate. You can choose to make a magnetic pin plate or tea bag/trinket plate. Joan would like a few volunteers to show up by 6:30 to set up chairs. Her studio is on the first floor. The address is 1301 Nicholas St. The entrance is on 13th St. of the orange colored building.
New Business: The May project by Christy Jindra is watch faces with interchangeable chunky bead bands. These are made with acrylic or resin beads on stretchy cord. Select your watch face and beads (if you choose) at http://www.virtualtouchbeads.comand email your choices to Christy by April 11th so she can place the order and get them in before the May meeting. Bring payment in May to reimburse Christy.
The meeting was adjourned followed by Show and Tell and a peyote lariat necklace project taught by Barb. Barb adapted this technique from a NanC Meinhardt workshop. Thanks Barb!
