Meeting Minutes April 24, 2012

Beady Bunch April 24th, 2012 Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order with 19 members and 1 guest present. Welcome Kim!

Lisa gave the Treasurer’s report with our current balance plus the receipts from the Bead Bazaar. She noted the members that still need to pay their 2012 dues.

Julie reported on some of the comments from the vendors at the Bead Bazaar. Discussion was held on how we could improve the advertising and signage to create more exposure for next year’s event. Suggestions included newspaper ads, radio, flyers at public venues and our website.

We had a last minute review of details for the Melanie Potter workshops this weekend. One open spot was quickly filled. The attendees are looking forward to learning from Melanie and shopping at her trunk show.

Joni collected everyone’s pieces for the Edna Perkins project and the contributions to keep the stash going. She will artistically arrange and deliver the donations to the Veteran’s Hospital for Mother’s Day weekend. Thanks to everyone who contributed and to Joni for taking on this project and getting it delivered!

Diane had several suggestions for adding fun to our meetings. It was noted that our finances would not allow for all of them so, Diane made a motion that at the end of the year we have a drawing from all members that taught a project during the year. The prize would be a $25 gift certificate to a local bead shop. Denise made a motion that it be from “beads etc” because Linette is so supportive of our group. Joni seconded it and both motions passed.

“beads etc” will be moving their store in June. Julie handed out coupons for 20% off your purchase during June at the new location.

Julie reported that she had talked with Charlene from 5z’s in Lincoln about teaching a workshop for us next year. Julie would like us to go to their web site www.5zs.biz to check out the class offerings. The group agreed that it would be good to have a local person in to teach.

The meeting was adjourned followed by Show and Tell and a project on bead bezeled rivoli taught by Diane. Thanks Diane for a fun project!
