The meeting was called to order with 16 members present. Lisa introduced her 2 guests. Welcome Mary Jo & Susan! We were glad you could join us.
Lisa gave the Treasurer’s report, noting that she sent the deposit for the Creighton Retreat Center in Griswald, Iowa for the January 10-12 retreat.
Old Business: The Bylaw revisions were discussed with two changes voted on and passed. Lisa suggested that we re-visit other changes in January.
Chris reminded everyone about the September Spiral Motif workshop taught by Charlene from 5z’s in Lincoln. An email was sent out to all members and Joni has it posted on the web site, so you can check there for more details. Lisa noted that we have 5 spots left open, so if you are interested, send your $25 payment to Lisa prior to the date of the class to hold your spot. Fees are non-refundable.
Don’t forget that the “Chris & Mary” challenge and the beaded nametag project are both due at the September meeting. The challenge will be voted on by the members present at the meeting. If you do not wear your nametag to the meetings, you will be asked to contribute a quarter to the treasury.
Charlene & Lisa reported on the Bead Bazaar committee. Lisa had met with April from the Lincoln group and suggested that the committee meet with her again in about November. Char said she is working on finding a website that will allow pre registration for vendors and attendees. More on that to follow. Char also presented the idea of having some “Make & Take” demonstrations/classes at the bazaar. Note a correction from previous minutes: Mary G will be the representative from the Lampworkers Guild on the committee, not Mary H.
Mary H explained the costs and food plans for the January retreat. She suggested that all fees should be paid by the November meeting and they will be non-refundable, with the exception of cancellations due to weather. Plans will be firmed up at the October meeting and we will have a signup sheet for potluck items to bring to the retreat.
New Business: Mary reported on the daytime retreat in October. The Settle Inn is available all day for $125. The fee would be divided among the members attending. She sent around a signup sheet to see how many people are interested. Plans will be firmed up at the September meeting, so check your calendars now.
Show and Tell was followed by a Twisted Earring project taught by Jenny. Thank you Jenny for a fun project!
Mary Goddard will teach a netted flower project at the September meeting. The photo at the top of the page is of the project. Mary is so supply a list of needed materials prior to the meeting.
